Jaipur, February, 2024: Doctors at Fortis Escorts Hospital Jaipur achieved a major milestone in cardiac care recently by implanting ‘Charisma EL MRI 3T Dual Chamber AICD Heart Failure Device’, India’s first heart failure device, in a 79-year-old patient. Suffering from frequent dizziness and rapid heartbeat upon admission, the patient was taken in emergency. A team of doctors, under the leadership of Dr. Amit Kumar Singhal, Senior Cardiologist, Fortis Escorts Hospital Jaipur, promptly diagnosed the cause as polymorphic ventricular tachycardia, a life-threatening cardiac condition where the heart can stop at any moment. The patient underwent successful implantation and experienced a rapid recovery, leading to discharge within 5-7 days post-procedure.
